Depression is a very common condition, affecting over 150 million people worldwide. A serious mental health condition, depression can be difficult to treat in some people. Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is a particularly serious form of the disorder, which refers to cases where standard antidepressant treatments don’t work.
There are a number of potential reasons why traditional antidepressant therapies may not be effective in treating TRD.
